Overview
You’ll step back in time and see animal specimens, weapons, and frontier-era clothing.
The Buckhorn Museum traces its heritage back to the late nineteenth century when the founder of the Buckthorn Saloon began to collect bones, antlers, and other natural artifacts from travelers passing through the neighborhood. Today, this natural history museum boasts more than 500 distinct species of wildlife, from an astonishing 10,000-year-old prehistoric elk to hundreds of small horns and antlers.
The newer Texas Ranger Museum fleshes out a portrait of frontier America with its homage to early Texan history. Explore the collections of Texas Ranger artifacts including weapons, munitions, badges, and clothing. This museum is a must-visit for fans of Texan heritage and the days of the wild frontiers.
