Overview
Built in the mid-16th century by Bohemian nobleman Jaroslav of Pernstein, the UNESCO World Heritage Site Lobkowicz Palace is rich with history and is the only privately owned palace in the Prague Castle complex. The Palace has witnessed hundreds of years being passed down to each ruling prince of the Lobkowicz family, significant architecural changes in the 17th and 18th centuries, a Nazi invasion in 1939 and Communist takeover in 1948. In 2002, the Palace was returned to the Lobkowicz family and was opened to the public in 2007.
Visit the museum to explore Bohemian and European history through the lens of the Lobkowicz family and one of Europe’s oldest art collections, complete with some pieces dating back 2,000 years. Enjoy exquisite paintings by the likes of Canaletto and Bruegel the Elder, stunning ceramics, bold arms and armor and fine musical instruments and hand-annotated manuscripts from famous composers such as Mozart and Beethoven!
Accompanied through the museum by audio guides narrated by two generations of the Lobkowicz family and the collections' curators, wander around and marvel at the various collections on offer, architectural delights and stunning interiors. Plus, the InSpiresPanorama audio tour offers visitors insights into the city’s most notable landmarks from the balcony of the palace!
Enhance your visit by visiting the Palace gift shop, grabbing a refreshment at the restaurant and café or enjoying one of the daily classical music concerts. There's plenty to explore at the Lobkowicz Palace!
