Overview
Paris is full of must-see monuments and you can discover them across the historic heart of the city on a guided walk across the Île de la Cité, where Paris was born. This atmospheric island in the Seine is home to centuries of history, from royal power to revolutionary moments.
As you explore its charming streets and riverside views, your guide will bring the island’s past to life, sharing stories of medieval Paris, iconic landmarks and the events that shaped the city.
A highlight of your walk is the exterior of Notre-Dame Cathedral, one of Paris’s most recognizable landmarks. The construction of this striking cathedral began in 1163 and took over a century to complete. Despite the major fire that damaged much of the cathedral in April 2019, its splendor is still very much intact.
You’ll get to admire the stunning façade of the building and its incredible exterior architecture, including its legendary gargoyles, before being shown the location of Point Zero. This spot in the heart of the square in front of the cathedral is the ‘geographic center’ of Paris that’s considered a place of good luck. Though you cannot enter the square, for now, you can see it from afar.
