The Makapuu Lighthouse Hike on Oahu is one of the most popular things to do on the Island of Oahu. The trail is relatively short, around 2 miles round trip, and isn't very steep. At the end, you're rewarded with stunning views of the Windward Coast and the historic Makapuu Lighthouse, standing tall since 1909. You'll hike the windward side of Oahu via a beautiful two-mile paved trail, and take in the entire coastline. Your tour guide will lead you to the Halona Blow Hole for a 15-minute stop, during which you'll marvel at a natural and breathtaking sea show. When wind and tide conditions are right, this blow hole shoots water up to 20 feet in the air. And, between mid-November and April, you may also see the migratory Humpback whales at this stop.
Makapuu Lighthouse is a 46-foot-tall active U.S. Coast Guard lighthouse and has over 100 years of history within its walls. Not to mention incredible views. From the top, you'll see sweeping views of the Pacific, Koko Head, Koko Crater, and the entire southern coastline of Oahu.
