Overview
This unique, award-winning museum explores the history and cultural importance of the Jewish community in the American South.
With exhibitions detailing the migration of Jewish people to America, all the way through to the Southern Jewish experience in the early 20th century, the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience celebrates the diverse experiences of this community. You'll learn how early immigrants established themselves in Southern communities, and how despite being a minority population, they have undoubtedly influenced public life through being important figures in local government and business.
These stories are brought to life by a rotating collection of over 4,000 historical items, including Judaica, records, letters and household items, as well as interactive exhibits.
The museum also challenges you to think about your own community and will leave you with a deeper understanding of diversity, identity and acceptance.
