Overview

Learn to cook like a local at the New Orleans School of Cooking. The expert Cajun and Creole chefs teach the basics of Louisiana home cooking. You'll learn how to make traditional dishes like gumbo, jambalaya, and pralines through live cooking demonstrations. Your skilled chef will talk you through the process while he prepares a classic meal, and of course, you'll get plenty of chances to taste it all, plus unlimited drinks.

It's the perfect way to get out of your culinary comfort zone and to learn why these dishes are an integral part of New Orleans' culture. Southern hospitality is all about the cooking, so don't miss the chance to experience it properly on a trip to the city.

The dishes prepared in each class will depend on the chefs. Classics like jambalaya, shrimp creole, and pralines will be on the menu, as well as dishes like crab bisque, crawfish etouffee, and shrimp soup.

Southern Louisiana cooking is all about hearty food, and you'll find a mix of global influences. Think sausage and vegetable stews, fried chicken sandwiches and spicy seafood dishes. Beignets are a popular sweet snack - these are deep-fried pastries covered in a cloud of icing sugar.

We’d happily do this again. Transitions between rooms or stops felt purposeful, would recommend budgeting a little buffer after for souvenirs.
