Lion Country Safari

Overview

You’ll enjoy a drive-through safari then get a little closer to nature in a walk-through adventure park.

The four-mile drive-through Florida safari gives you access to over 900 free-roaming animals. America’s first wildlife preserve opened in 1967 and is divided into seven specific areas. During your drive you’ll catch a glimpse of giraffe, zebra, rhinos, wildebeests, and of course, lions. Some animals will be within mere inches of your vehicle. Remember, animals have the right-of-way when you're on safari!

Then you’ll go on foot to Safari World Adventure Park for a more hands-on experience. There’s plenty to do here with animal encounters like giraffe feeding, bird feeding, and a petting zoo.

You can also jump on a range of Lion Country Safari rides including a kid’s train, carousel, water sprayground, water slides, and more.

A calm experience even on a crowded day. Queues moved faster than expected, worth blocking a half-day for.

Entry was quicker than websites suggested. Seating/rest spots helped older travelers in our group, and overall it was one of our favorite stops.

The pace worked well with kids. Highlights matched what was advertised, would recommend budgeting a little buffer after for souvenirs. (Weekday visit lined up neatly with transit.)
