Overview
The Autry Museum is located in the northeast corner of the iconic Griffith Park and has been a part of the cultural fabric of LA since 1988. Its huge renovation in 2013 enabled curators to display much more of the collection to visitors.
Enjoy informative tours, special events, family activities, film screenings, lectures, workshops, and more – most of which are included with your general admission Autry Museum tickets. Exhibitions are focused on a wide variety of inspiring subjects, from indigenous artifacts to early nineteenth-century weaponry, to contemporary photography.
If you're visiting the Autry Museum of the American West on a weekend, don't miss one of the gold panning sessions where you can try your luck at panning for gold just like the early California entrepreneurs did during the Gold Rush of ’49. There are also regular guided tours of the museum’s highlighted exhibitions and pieces hosted by experienced docents, offering a different perspective on the museum’s collections.
