Overview
Hewn into rock in a top secret location north of Gothenburg, Aeroseum is a cavernous subterranean hangar that covers some 22,000 square meters. Here’s your chance to get up close to –and even into the cockpits of – historic aircraft including impressive fighter jets and military helicopters.
Interactive and hands-on exhibits mean you can take the controls of a historic Viggen fighter jet and explore dozens more vintage aircraft. There are even free guided tours on weekends.
Other attractions at the museum include exhibitions on the atomic bomb, Cold War spying technology and, of course, information on the underground hangar itself and how it was constructed here, 30 meters below the earth, in 1955.
Flight simulators can also be booked in advance for a small additional fee. These include the two-seater Comanche, a Super Viggen fighter and a commercial A300 Airbus airliner.
